Sketch for what I want my vinyl cut out to look like. For this project we were assigned to make a design that involved three layers which also means three different colors. The three layers I was planning on doing; white (as base and background color), black (as face and outline), and red (shirt color).
First layer that I worked on was the black, this is the middle layer. Inserted image from google, ignored white, and then changed the red shirt into black since the red still needed an outline. Black has to be smaller than the white so they onto one another.
Bottom vector that is selected is the white layer. During this process, after I pasted the same image, I used the erase tool to get rid of the "inside" black detailing. Since I only wanted this to be the white layer, it needed to be black so that the two other layers could go on top.
The final layer was the red. After pasting a third vector of the same starting image, I deleted everything but the shirt outline. These are all of the layers separated. All of the layers are outlined in red so when it comes time to cut it out, the vinyl cutter will recognize what to do.
I filled in each layer with the color it is meant to be, This is not how I would transfer to the vinyl cutter, but just for reference of what the layers would look like.
All of the layers on top one another. The order of the layers goes from bottom to top; white, black and then red.
What the final product would look like. Follow steps on the second half of the Illustrator page of what steps to do to cut it out on the vinyl cutter.

Summary Paragraph :
The only thing I struggled with the most through this project was figuring how to separate make each layer, its own layer. Otherwise I learned that I am getting more familiar with these software's, and also how to collaborate with other students to talk through our ideas and get help. During these trying times I am learning a lot about myself, one thing that has stuck out the most is how much I really loved being in the school setting. So as much as I wanted to see this project come alive, unfortunately I won't be able to. Overall though, this is one of the least stressful rotation out of the three that I did. The other two including the laser and 3D printing projects.
