What is a CNC Mill?
A CNC Mill is a computer numerical control mill that removes material with a mill to create your customized design based on the coding from the inital computer design.
What type of mill do we have in the Innovation center?
In the Innovation Center, we have 2 Tormach PCNC 440 CNC mills.
What are 3 things you learned about the mill?
- A chamfer smooths the edges on the part.
- The Tormach PCNC 440 mill is the smallest of the mills.
- Higher spindle speeds help with machine timing.
What software do you set up your project in before you use the mill?
We use Fusion 360 to set up our projects before using the mill.
What does that software do?
Fusion 360 allows you to create any shape, design, or path on a piece of material on the software.
If you could make anything in the mill what would you make?I would make either my first letter and name or that of a family member. I would also make it out of a different material since metal doesn't really fit with any themes of my or my family's homes. It could go well with a more modern farm housey theme, but not contemporary modern. If I were to do my first letter and name, I would make it out of wood and then later if I had the option I would paint it white so it could make the furniture, wall art, and theme of my room. It would also be pretty cool to have something hanging that I made in my room.

Summary Paragraph :
I wish I could have more in person about the CNC Mill but I've learned that it is a very useful process from using Fusion 360 to using the actual machine itself. It can bring any idea that you come up with in your head to life. Whether you want to make something that can move, hands on, or something as simple as some wall decor, the CNC Mill can do it all.
